Has anyone been notified of the possibility of their job
being cut next year. We had a faculty meeting Friday and were notified
that if the State Legislature did not fund education at a minimum of 46.3% of
the General Fund our district would have to cut at least 15 jobs next
year. In comparison, last year's funding was 43.5%; in 1992 education
received 46.5%.
Our district has decided that the cuts would be as
followed:
1. District paid (excess personnel, such as
secretaries)
2. Tech Prep (7th, 8th, 9th, Discoveries and Career
Center Tech)
3. Vo-Tech
4. Faculty
Our district teachers are trying to ban together to write
our legislators and let them know that education needs to be fully funded.
I hope that you will consider writing, calling, emailing, faxing, writing
letters to the editor... Whatever is needed to ensure that education will
be funded and jobs will not be cut.
If you would like the names and numbers of people to
contact, please email me and I will send you a list. Also, if you would
like more information on what our district is considering doing let me know as
well.
