Re: computerdisc-l: introduction

Hey, it is great to see all the new members on the Computer Discovery List Serve.  I hope the list will be more active with the new members on it this year.  I am also at a C-site and will be attending the up-grade training in July in Starkville.  I teach at Stone Middle School in Wiggins, MS and look forward to the new school year with our new computers.  I was getting so sick of Windows 3.1.......Ugh!

I'm teaching Math in Summer School this month and I'm also working at the local Girl Scout camp in the afternoons and evenings.  The camp, Iti Kana, is only 5 miles north of me.  So I'm a floater at camp and go from unit to unit to give breaks for the leaders who are in much need of rest and relaxation and a little time away from 32 little girls.

In the Fall I will be teaching Computer Discovery, of course, but also a class of 6th grade social studies.  I have also taught Spanish and various other subjects in my long career as a teacher.  I taught 2 years in Gary, Ind, where I taught a second grade bilingual class of Puerto Rican children.  I taught 2 years in a Catholic School on the Coast.  All the rest of the time I have been here in Wiggins.  I guess I've been here for about 18 years.  It is easy to loose count after awhile.

Well, hope we can share ideas.  We will have 96 min classes this year on a new block schedule.  I welcome any ideas for how to break up the time better and offer TPR type of activities to help the students so they don't have to just type for the full 96 min.
