We too have both programs. We also use GCAK for "time fillers"
for those who are ahead of the majority of the class. MicroType Pro
is my choice for actual instruction and practice. Good luck figuring
out your problem.

computerdisc-l: GCAK
I have used Applied MIcro-Type for the past four
years to teach my students typing. GCAK is a huge program that
requires a lot of ram. I have found that Children jam the machines
because they do not log off correctly. So I just use the GCAK as an
enrichment or free time skill builder. During the career unit
we view the videos on the differnt careers, but I stick with Micro
Type for my keyboarding unit. The reports are easy to print, and they
are easy to create a grading system. Also it is easy to control
each students account.
