Support the mission of the Research and
Curriculum Unit through analysis, design, development and
coordination of professional development activities in a variety of
formats related to vocational and technical education including the
Tech Prep Discovery program.
Assess needs, plan and coordinate
professional development activities, in cooperation with Mississippi
Department of Education (MDE) vocational and technical program
coordinators, for vocational and technical education personnel
including Tech Prep Discovery teachers; create and maintain
listserves; support the development and maintenance of interactive
curricula and electronic resources for teachers, administrator and
counselors; and support the design and delivery of online courses or
workshops for teachers to meet licensure requirements. Other related
duties as assigned.
This position requires a master's
degree in instructional design, educational technology, or closely
related education field; experience in teacher preparation and
online education to include experience in web design; knowledge of
evolving MDE standards and requirements for the purpose of designing
appropriate professional training; command of current office
technologies and presentation media; ability to make formal
presentations; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in
writing; ability to manage multiple projects and priorities; ability
to foster relationships with MDE and school personnel; design and
manage online forms for research data collection; analysis and
evaluation of professional development products and activities;
initiative; resourcefulness; poise and tact; high functioning in a
team work environment, and availability to travel frequently during
peak times.
To begin as Associate III, one must
have a masters degree and a minimum of 3 years experience. To begin
as Senior Associate, one must have a masters degree and a minimum of
6 years experience. To begin as an Assistant Research Professor, one
must have a terminal degree in the discipline and the potential for
successful performance in research activity or creative achievement
in a university environment.
A working knowledge of the Blackboard
Learning System, National Staff Development Standards, the National
Board Standards for Career and Technical Educators, Train the
Trainer Experience and adult learning theory.
