The Mississippi Department of Education would like to invite you to
participate in our Summer Conference to be held June 5-7, 2006 at the
University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS. This year's conference theme is
"TRAIN: Teachers-Rigor-Administrators/Leaders-Involvement-Network of
Support" which embraces the state's priority to provide a quality education
for every child.
The goal of the Summer Conference is to advance the efforts of state
educators and administrators by providing professional development that will
help districts overcome challenges with research-based action steps that
will accelerate student achievement. Conference strands will address:

. Using Data to Accelerate Student Learning
. Leading and Managing Schools in an Era of Accountability
. Gifted Education
. Instruction and Assessment for Students with Disabilities
. Arts Education and Integrating the Arts
. Research-Based Strategies for Increasing Student Achievement

. Using Online Learning to Accelerate Student Learning
. Creating Successful High Schools
The Summer TRAIN Conference will provide educators with professional
development relevant to their respective areas of responsibility to ensure
that they are equipped with the necessary knowledge and tools to positively
impact student achievement. Educators, administrators, parents, pre-service
teachers, paraprofessionals, legislators, business and community leaders,
and Department of Education personnel are encouraged to attend.
