IC3 CERTIFICATION PREP-
SESSION I. This session will include an initial pretest
to determine how much participants already know (or don’t know) about the
concepts/information required for the IC3 certifications. Training will
follow based on needs prescribed by pretest. The purpose of this session
will be to prepare participants for the IC3 certifications. Prerequisite -
basic familiarity with MS Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Trainer:
Nita Brooks, Authorized IC3 Instructor, Certiport, Inc. and Suzette
Logan, IC3 Certified Instructor (Appropriate for any teacher desiring
the IC3 Certifications in the areas of Computing Fundamentals, Key
Applications, and Living Online) Participants will have the
opportunity to complete Certification Tests onsite (on or before Session
III) for a fee of $15 each or a total of $45 [For more information on IC3 Certification, see: http://www.techforall.org/ic3_requirements.html ] ANIMALS IN THE CLASSROOM (IT’S A JUNGLE OUT THERE) Have you ever felt like your classroom is a Z00? That's because it is! You have all kinds of different "animals" (learners) in you classroom. They all have different needs, and must be taught in different ways. This session will help you to identify the five different types of personalities in your classroom, and will offer you multiple ways to address each student's individuality. Join our "safari" as we explore all of the wonderful things our "jungle" has to offer us. Trainer: Sandy Graham, State Trainer (All Teachers welcomed). READING YOUR WAY THROUGH MATH. Have you been looking for a way to make your math lessons more exciting? Well, go no further. The answer lies in your school's library! Come learn how to strengthen your student's reading skills while reinforcing important math objectives at the same time. Each activity will use a children's literature book to build on one or more math concepts. Students of any age love for you to read to them. Why not teach them a little math while you have their attention? Come join the fun, and you can "calculate" the results for yourself! CPAS: Facts Every Career and Technical Teacher Should Know To Raise Test ScoresA lively and honest discussion of the two main
types of CPAS questions, special needs students and their test grades,
dealing with the special needs students, why the test bank is
important to you, analyzing the blueprint and how can you use it to
raise your test scores, articulation is the new buzz word and
why it is important, teaching your curriculum really does matter
to CPAS, why Blooms is important when teaching for the CPAS,
what those CPAS scores really mean, NEW
CHANGE: how one student being absent will now affect your test

HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR CLASS – CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT. Find out how organizing your classroom, teaching methods, your rules, and much more affect motivating students and your year as a teacher. Come and gather ideas to take back with you to implement in your classroom. Trainer: Melanie Busby, West Point (Appropriate for all teachers and principals.) WHO WANTS TO BE AN INTEGRATION SENSATION? Integration is not a new term in the world of education. On a regular basis, we see research evidence stating that integrating multiple subjects will create motivation and promote long-term memory for our students. The problem lies in the time necessary to develop these useful activities. This session will offer you multiple lessons to use in your own classroom, as well as introduce you to various web site that can offer you even more great lessons. No matter what your subject area is, this session will send you home with a wealth of knowledge to share with your learners! Trainer: Sandy Graham, State Tech Prep Trainer (Math, Science, English, History -- Grades 5-12 ) GRANT WRITING FOR EDUCATORS. Audience. This session will help you take an idea and develop it into a full proposal appropriate for funding. Participants will learn the five basic steps to writing a successful grant and how to connect with funding sources. No materials or prerequisites required. Trainer: Linda Clifton, Principal/Grant Writer, Tupelo Public Schools. (K-12 teachers, administrators, and counselors) Stop Pulling Your Hair Out: Use Bloom's Taxonomy or Webb's: Bloom's all day could be boring but not here!
Learn how understanding Blooms and Webb's will help you become a better
teacher in the classroom. Bring a couple of old test or activities from a
concept your love to teach and some form a concept you can't get
your students to understand with you so you can learn and practice
how to write questions for higher level thinking skills to help improve

Trainer: Linda Clifton, Principal/Grant Writer, Tupelo Public Schools. (K-12 teachers, administrators, and counselors) NOW THAT I HAVE ALL THESE CALCULATORS, WHAT DO I DO WITH THEM? Do you have a classroom full of TI-Graphing Calculators, but you have very little knowledge about how to run one? No need to worry. We will start with the basics and work our way up to the complex. Learn how to use the calculators to "assist" in the learning process. The calculator can be used to teach your students how to check their work, which will ultimately improve their accuracy. The more you learn about them, the more you will love working with them. You may bring your own calculator or use one that will be available. Trainer: Sandy Graham, State Math Trainer (Math grades 5-12) THURSDAY’S SELECTIONS CONTINUED ON PAGE 2. PARENT INVOLVEMENT. Learn how to get
parents involved in your school and classroom. Find out what other
teachers and schools are doing to increase parental involvement. Take back
with you information to share with your school about how to be a more

more for teachers and/or
administrators.) Come learn what contextual teaching is and get new ideas for fun activities that anyone can use in their classroom.
