Faculty Colleagues:

The Robert Holland Faculty Senate has voted to include the MSU-Meridian
Campus as an independently represented unit on the Senate.  This
requires the approval of the General Faculty.  Accordingly the following
modification (underlined, red) to the Faculty Handbook was presented at
the Fall 2003 meeting of the General Faculty yesterday and is also
presented to you electronically for your consideration.  

Please do not vote at this time; an electronic vote will be conducted
in 30 days.  Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any

III. The Faculty, 
C. THE ROBERT HOLLAND FACULTY SENATE, 
1. Composition (3rd paragraph)

Senate representation shall be re-figured at two-year intervals or as
necessitated by a change in the number of units represented. The units
to be represented are as follows: College of Agriculture and Life
Sciences and associated personnel of the Mississippi Agricultural and
Forestry Experiment Station, College of Architecture, College of Arts
and Sciences, College of Business and Industry, College of Education,
College of Engineering, College of Forest Resources and associated
personnel of the Forest and Wildlife Research Center, College of
Veterinary Medicine, Mississippi State University Extension Service,
Mississippi State University-Meridian Campus, and the Library. Other
units composed of members of the General Faculty may be represented upon
the recommendation of the Robert Holland Faculty Senate and the approval
of the General Faculty. Faculty equivalent individuals who report to
various administrative entities but do not hold appointments in one of
the units listed above shall be assigned to one of the above units by
the appropriate Vice President.
