This message has been posted to the Technology Applications Teacher Discussion List. We are all so glad to see Jim here now! He is loaded with good information. I appreciate the MasterCam help you get us. I talked to Ronnie today about the protective shield for my Techno Mill. The one that came with the mill was destroyed before I came into this program. Lynn (Hi Lynn!) wrote it up in my evaluation last year for not having the protective shield. Ronnie says the shield is hazardous in itself. He told me of several accidents that he has had with the shield attacking him. I never let a student mill without me right there BUT I do understand the situation. I talked to Ronnie today (after "several" attempts) about purchasing a new protective shield. The price for one is $175.00!!!!! Does anyone have another suggestion? Have many of you registered for the GISLIVE Wednesday? I have and hope it is good. Anyone doing any good new stuff? I am working on changing parts of the Telecommunications module but I feel I am going off on lots of tangents with it. Maybe I can get it together though. Are many of you using Blackboard? I am and having the module tests there are wonderful - graded instantly. Also, I put all assignments, notes, etc. on Blackboard. I put two new assignments on there last night but did not mention it in class today. Students had already started the new assignments today without mentioning getting them from Blackboard. It is really great! Will mentioned Cary's snowflake. Anyone else tried it yet? We are going to soon. What about his yo-yo? So far, three people have tried it and we have three different yo-yos. We will keep going until 2 look alike huh? As far as snowflakes, you know what they say - NO TWO LOOK ALIKE! My class can guarantee that one I bet! Do any of you use the prototyping foam? We would like some more variety of material to mill and I was thinking about buying some of the foam.
