Parrots learn quickly

This was forwarded to me by a friend, Wayne Eason. I hope you enjoy it.

Shucks, this might be just the thing for me to use in classes as a
"behavior modification" or "attitude adjustment" device. Who knows? It
might work best with my graduate student advisees? What do y'all think???

Subject: Good Tuesday!

Here's a funny for you. See you at MECA!

A guy received a parrot for his birthday. This parrot was already fully
grown with a bad attitude and worse vocabulary. The guy tried hard to
change the bird's attitude and was constantly saying polite words,
playing soft music, anything he could think of to try and set a good
example.

Nothing worked. He yelled at the bird and the bird got worse. He shook
the bird and the bird got more angry and more rude. Finally, in a
moment of desperation, he put the parrot in the freezer. For a few
moments he heard the bird squawking, swearing, and kicking then suddenly
there was quiet . . . The guy was frightened that he might have
actually hurt the bird and quickly opened the freezer door.

The parrot calmly stepped out onto the guy's extended arm and said: "I'm
very sorry that I have offended you with my language and actions and I
humbly ask for your forgiveness. I will endeavor at whatever cost to
correct my behavior." The guy was astounded at the bird's change in
attitude and was about to ask what would have effected such a drastic
change when parrot continued, "May I inquire what the chicken did?"
