this thread (jeff & dr. a's comments) made me think of a very wise (i
think) thing that a college classmate of mine once said:  "i'm a quick
learner.  why, you only have to show me seven or eight times, and then i've
got it!"  i've always felt this statement was an excellent reminder that,
in this age of lightning speed and instant gratification, some things still
take practice and patience.  if you're like me, sometimes you are ready to
give up after the first one, or maybe two, unsuccessful attempts at
something.

now i'm going to go practice being tenacious!
