That's correct. The list proc default is set to noack, which means no 
acknowledgement of your messages sent to the list.

If you send a message to listproc@msstate.edu with the subject line 
blank and the body message: 
set tkt8763-01 mail ack
then the list proc will send you a message that says MAIL mode reset 
to ACK.  Then, you will receive acknowledgements.  

I learned this while trying to get the back messages off the list.

possible commands from the list proc, then send $29.95 to me and I'll 
even throw in this great knife that cuts tomatoes razor thin...no wait 
- send a message to listproc@msstate.edu with the subject line blank 
and the body message:
