Michelle and Vickie;
Here is a copy of the list subscriber commands that I kept when I first
subscribed to the list. You will find a command in there that enables you
to receive your own messages sent to the group.
*****************
Subscriber Commands
===================
General
-------
List management or information commands (to subscribe or unsubscribe or
set some customization) are sent to listproc@msstate.edu. Commands
should be placed in the body of the message. The subject field of the
message is ignored.
Actual submissions to the list are sent to <name-of-list>@msstate.edu.
Subscribing
-----------
To subscribe to a mailing list the user should send an email message
to listproc@msstate.edu with the following line in the body of the
message:
subscribe <listname> <Full Name>
where <listname> is the name of the list to which the user wishes to
subscribe and <Full Name> is the subscriber's full name (not email
address...that will be automatically extracted from the header)
For example, to subscribe to the smoke-free mailing list I would send
the following:
subscribe smoke-free Frank Peters
In reply the user will get a welcome message with instructions for
submitting messages and for unsubscribing from the list.
Unsubcribing
------------
To unsubscribe from the list a subscriber should send an email message
to listproc@msstate.edu with the following line in the body of the
message:
unsubscribe <listname>
For example, to unsubscribe from the smoke-free mailing list I would
send the following:
unsubscribe smoke-free
Setting List Options
--------------------
There are several options which users can set in order to control list
behavior. All such commands should be sent to listproc@msstate.edu.
The subscriber can control whether s/he receives copies of his or her
own list submissions with the ack mail option.
set <listname> mail ack
will cause a copy of any submissions to be sent back.
set <listname> mail noack
will cause the subscriber to not receive copies of his or her own
submissions.
You can cause list messages to be sent as periodic digests instead
of individually with:
set <listname> mail digest
You can temporarily stop receiving messages without the bother of
unsubscribing (useful for long holidays and such) with:
set <listname> mail postpone
You can undo this by setting mail to ack, noack or digest.
Note that the name of this option is somewhat misleading. Messages
are not actually postponed, they are stopped. In other words, if
you set mail postpone and later set mail to ack you will not receive
any message submitted to the list during the interval.
It is possible to get a list of the subscribers to a mailing list
(this will be discussed later). You can conceal yourself from the
list of subscribers with:
set <listname> conceal yes
You can undo this with:
set <listname> conceal no
NOTE: The listproc manager may choose to disable the conceal option
for the entire listproc system or for certain lists.
Changing Subscriber Address
---------------------------
As was mentioned earlier, listproc automatically determines the email
address to subscribe to a mailing list. While this determination is
correct the overwhelming majority of the time, it can be fooled by a
poorly configured mail system on the sending or receiving end of a
message. The subscriber can change the address to which messages are
sent with:
set <listname> address <password> <new-address>
Useful Information
------------------
The listproc system supports a variety of useful information commands.
To get help send a mail message to listproc@msstate.edu with:
help
as the body of the message.
You can get a list of the subscribers to a mailing list (except those who
have chosen to conceal themselves) by sending:
review <listname>
You can get a list of the mailing lists that a listproc supports by
sending:
list

I hope this helps.
