To all of the Cyber-SIPPERS,
My name is Tim Cassibry. I thought I should send out a quick intro while
still working on a home page. I promise I will have one up soon :)
I am a Christian, a family man (my wife Audrey and son Trenton, 8 Months
old), and an officer inin the United States Army. I teach Army ROTC here
at MSU. In case you wonder why I listed those in the order I did it is
because I strongly believe in putting God first, family second, and all
else third.
I come from a military family. My father is a retired Army chaplain. I
was born in Georgia, and have lived all over the United States and in
Germany.
I have been in the Army for almost 10 years. I fought in Operation Desert
Storm and spent one year deployed to Hungary and Bosnia in support of
peacekeeping operations there. I have lived in Germany for about seven
of my thirty-two years.
I serve because I am a patriot and believe it is the responsibility of
every citizen to give something back to their country. I serve because I
love this country and her way of life. I serve because I want her
citizens to feel safe at night and to know that she is protected by men
and women who have sworn to defend her to the death if necessary. It may
sound corny, but I truly believe it and am not ashamed to say so.
I love spending time with my family! I am enjoying watching my son grow
up. It happens so fast, though.
I am about to take up gardening. I love fly-fishing and golf.
Unfortunately I do not do enough of either.
I have truly been blessed to do the traveling and experience the cultures
of many different nations. It is truly a learning experience. I wish I
could convey the beauty of standing on top of the Zugspitz in Germany an
looking out across the alps or walking the tulip fields of Holland or
ancient streets of Salzburg or Rottenburg. I wish I could convey the
horror of walking through concentration camps such as Dachau and
Buchenwald or some of the great battlefields such as Shiloh, Tennessee or
The Battle of the Bulge in Belgium.
The world is a great place with a lot to see. Many will not have the
opportunites to see some of the things I have seen. Not, that is, unless
we as technology planners do our job and make all of this accessable to
the people of country. I almost said students, but many more need to see
the same things than just the students.
What a chance to make this happen.
Anyway, I seem to be rambling. I do that a lot. I am working on it.
Some of my dreams (goals):
To visit every continent (3 down, 4 to go)
To visit every state of the Union (41 down 9 to go)
To retire young (so I can help those who can't afford it)
To be successful in my own business
To learn to kayak
To go mountain climbing
To take my father to St Andrews and play a round of golf
To watch a football and baseball game at every team's home stadium.
To make a difference.
What is the difference between a dream and a goal? A Goal is a dream with
a date attached and a plan to get there.
