I just finished, Acres of Daimonds", by Russel H. Conwell. A short
book(61 pages) but pack full of thought. I've posted the full review on
my web page but thought I share this part with the class.
The one quote that will probably mean the most refers to perspective:
"But I'm here for the lesson and not for the story".
I think so many times we get caught up in the thought, "What is this
going do for me or what I'm I going to get out of this?" We forget that
it is all a journey and a series of lessons along the way. We should not
try to create headlines for ourselves but for others instead. Sharing
the wealth of your abundant gifts to create greatness in others is the
meaning of greatness?
As this relates to technology planning, when we look at planning,
working with others, and going through the process and when conflicts
araise, struggles begin, and monumental tasks surmount, maybe we at
times miss the most important treasures we have around us. Maybe we miss
the greatness we have stored in others and ourselves. The greatness in
any organization is found in those who share a common goal and who are
willing to work hard to achieve that goal. Maybe there are, "Acres of
Diamonds" among us and we have forgotten to look closely enough to see
the true riches that surround us.
Thanks for being the diamonds in my cyber-acre.
