tkt8763-01: ALERT> New Members Online

This afternoon, I have gone ahead and subscribed, automatically, all the
new members of Seminar in Planning for the Spring 1999 semester. So, they
will be getting this email without realizing they've even tried to get in
on this action.

However, they did, in fact, enroll in Seminar in Planning. So, here's
your chance, you alumni......

What words of advice would you give them?

What little "terms" would you like them to begin becoming familiar with?
(ex: SIP, SIPper)

I want to welcome all the new folks to this list...and to tell you that
your experience next semester in "Seminar in Planning for Instructional
Technology" will be one of the best of your career. Get ready for some
hard work, but you will perform extremely valuable functions.

I suggest you go ahead and take a look at the SIP class web page:
   http://www.msstate.edu/dept/teched/sip

Then, get a head start by reading some of the books in the reading list.
I suggest you all start by reading "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill.
This book is not easy to read, but it is essential reading, nonetheless.
You might want to follow that with "Empires of the Mind." Or, you might
want to look at the list, then go to either a good book store to find a
book or to look in a "Books On Tape" section somewhere and find some of
these audio seminars. Current class members might help you in locating
some super works.

Perhaps you are curious, as newcomers, why on earth it is important to
begin reading personal achievement literature when we are going to study
technology planning. Well, it should become clear rather quickly. If it
doesn't come clear by mid-term, you'll know you signed up for the wrong
class.

Become familiar with "eagle mentality." You might even want to send a
message to the list, stating your feelings or reservations about what you
don't know. Some of the "true eagles" in class will jump to your rescue
and clarify this point for you.

Anyway, let the flurry begin.

Also, some of you newcomers will be helping me with a very special project
in SIP for the Spring. So, why don't some of y'all send a message to the
list, explaining what you will be doing with me. Come on and speak up --
Connie, Jennifer, Marilyn, Aimee........ We're listening.

Welcome to the Flock!
