Hey there LaShona
My name's Alan Brown - affectionately (I hope) know among Seminar in
Planning folks (SIPpers) and Advanced Seminar in Planning folks (Gulpers .
. . get it?) as the devil's advocate, or DA. The SIP class called on me to
use my noggin in ways unfamiliar to me. Rather than spouting out "correct"
answers, I had to ask, "What questions should we be asking when we're
confronted with new information, new situations, new opportunities?" and
"How can we help a group to do this for themselves?" The answers that we
think are obvious, often don't reflect the depth of thought required of us
- as leaders in technology planning. And we have to keep asking the
questions, because the answer may be different the next time we ask the
same question!
"How does this apply to technology planning?" "How does this impact
learning?" "Why is my personal philosophy important?" are a few q's that
may arise in the coming weeks.
Relax. Absorb. Communicate. Enjoy! And be sure to ask Dr. A about the
"extra credit" questions!
