tkt8763-01: Workshop Assignment

I would like for you to "pair up" with somebody else in class and prepare
a technology planning workshop around the following description.

The workshop should be designed to last all day (9 AM - 4 PM), including
lunch and breaks.

Let's see what we come up with, OK?

Title:  Planning for Technology on Campus:  Selecting the Right
Technology, Creating Faculty Development Activities, and Facilities Design

Description:  As more and more institutions move toward integration of
technology into traditional curricula, selection of the technology most
suited to each institution becomes extremely important.  The process of
technology selection and identifying the equipment to support it takes
planning and experience.  This workshop will enable those attending to
develop a plan that will address specific technology issues in their
institutions and aid in making the right decision the first time.  Faculty
development in the area of instructional technology is as critical as the
selection of the technology.  In this session, various approaches to
faculty development will be examined and case studies used to help those
attending begin the process of creating effective faculty development
activities.  Facilities design is an element of planning that must be done
with input from various constituencies as well as those who have been
involved in design issues.  This session will deal with all the elements
of facility design to better prepare the participant in adequate planning
for new construction or renovation of existing space.

I expect you to have begun developing some preliminary plans....some
thoughts on paper...by our next class meeting.  Then, you can get with
your partner(s) and "flesh out" what this workshop should entail.

And, I'll respond to this before you ask:  No, I don't have a deadline on
this assignment yet.  Just start thinking about it and developing
materials at this point.  Your preparation will pay off later.
