tkt8763-01: Idea Request (fwd)

As many of you know, Dr. Debbie Porter from the Mt. Pleasant, TX area, has
served as an "online mentor" for prior SIPpers...especially in the area of
grant writing. She has particular expertise, too, in project management.

So, I send this forward to you so you can examine ways you might come to
her rescue and offer assistance in certain areas.

Subject: Idea Request

Dear Dr. Anderson,

I see you are getting off to a good start with this semester's SIP class. I
have a request. If you feel it is a good idea and would like to send it out
to current and/or former students, I would appreciate it.

As you know, I have received several technology grants in the past 3 years.
Last year I looked at preservice teacher certification programs and the degree
of technology integration at the university level for teacher candidates. My
quest was to stress the importance of modeling the use of technology with our
pre-teachers so that we turn out new teachers open and versed in utilizing
educational technology.

I have been asked to extend that research this semester with a small project--
in case study form. I would appreciate any creative thought that your
students could offer. I am not sure how to structure a case study for
preservice or newly certified teachers to determine their comfort and
expertise in the use of educational technology.

I know that your class is related to tech planning. I feel we need teachers
to be competent enough in the use of technology to contribute to the planning
process. Just a thought.

If anyone has a wild and crazy thought of how we should structure a case study
or burning questions that should be examined, please let me know.

As always with a grant I have a short fuse. I will probably develop most of
the information in the next few days.

Have a great semester. I will be tuning in to see your progress. Should have
my web site up in three or four weeks.

Enjoy your class,

Dr. Debbie Porter
