Laura reminded me of something, when she mentioned about Christival, that
I overlooked telling you Thursday night. Of course, I was in such a *huge
rush* to finish my story, because LaShona was giving me the serious evil
eye...and trying to hint that y'all had finished listening long before I
ran out of air!!!! So....
Anothe reason I enjoy music is that my nephew, Al Denson, is quite an
accomplished musician, too. He's a contemporary Christian recording
musician; perhaps some of you have been to one of Al's concerts in the
past. He's crazy!!!!!!!
One particularly fun event that occurred was when Mark Benno invited me
out to Ft. Worth last fall to speak at the Texas Association for
Educational Technology (Mark is President of this great group). Just
before I got up to give the keynote speech, I looked in the back of the
auditorium and Al had walked into the room! He lives just north of Dallas
now, so he had called Kathy (my wife...and his mom's sister) the night
before. While they were talking, Kathy mentioned that I was in Ft. Worth,
so Al decided to surprise us. Indeed, he did. So, Al sat with Mark's
wife, Elizabeth, and Rob Hammer's widow, Lorrie, during the presentation.
He really enjoyed getting to know some of our friends...and I think the
feeling was mutual. Elizabeth said he particularly liked my "possum
story." Mark, you'll have to verify or deny that!
So, thanks, Laura, for reminding me of yet something else I forgot to
tell you in class. See? I told you I am the world's most fortunate (not
LUCKY, mind you) human being!
See y'all Thursday night!
