tkt8763-01: Free Tango Redux

Sorry about the previous Tango message. I forgot to paste the critical
portion of the message. In case you missed it, Tango is a great program for
creating FileMaker CGI forms for the Web.

Subject: PR - You Can Tango For Free

This announcement is from:

Greg Meece <mailto:gmeece@pervasive.com>

Attention Evangelistas! Now you can make a formerly PC-only company
sit up and notice Mac users, plus get an incredible Web/database
integration tool for FREE!

Pervasive Software, Inc. (my employer) recently purchased a Canadian
company called Everyware Development. Everyware started out as a
Mac-only company, with their flagship product called "Tango". Tango
is a CGI/Plugin development environment for tying databases to the
web so you can create dynamic web pages on the fly. If you've ever
logged onto a site and typed in a query (finding specific types of
products, or names of people, or whatever), then you've used this
type of technology. In fact, because Tango is available on Windows,
Macintosh, and several flavors of Unix, it's likely you've visited a
site which operates with Tango (including many Mac-based/oriented
sites).

Pervasive has historically been a PC-only company, and was formerly a
part of Novell. With the acquisition of Everyware, Pervasive now has
a solid Mac product. In order to get as many people excited about
Tango, they are - for a limited time - giving Tango away. You can
either download the product or order the CD. The download is close to
60 Mb, so unless you've got a high-speed connection, you may want to
order the CD.

On a personal note, this is the first job I've held in 11 years where
I didn't work on a Mac to some degree. I'd like to send a clear
message to Pervasive that not only are Mac users savvy and active on
the internet, but continue to demand world-class products for the Mac
platform as well. They are tracking the response for each platform,
so I'd like to surprise them with the Mac numbers! I'm not a
marketing/sales person - just a Quality Engineer excited about this
product.

If you don't believe you'll ever have use for a product like Tango,
don't just download or order the CD just to boost the numbers. But,
if you are serious about deploying a web-based database application
on the internet or your intranet (or think you might be), check out
Tango and then go for it.

You can click on the "Download Tango Free" icon on Pervasive's web
site: <http://www.pervasive.com/> If you'd like to know a bit more
about the product before you order/download, go to:
ct> I should let everyone know that the "catch" to all this is simply
that Pervasive will have your name, e-mail, etc. for their internal
marketing purposes. They will NOT sell your name to anyone else,
however.

To paraphrase Guy, "Kick Hiney, Evangelistas!" ;-)
