WHAT:  March 1999 meeting
       Mississippi Council for Education Technology (CET)
DATE:  Tuesday, March 16, 1999
TIME:  10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
PLACE: Jackson, MS (actually)
       MSU (virtually) -- Rooms IED 251 and Allen 255

PURPOSE: UPGRADE OF STATEWIDE BACKBONE FROM FRAME RELAY TO ATM
          (both data and video)

The Mississippi Council for Education Technology, in our regular monthly
meeting, will be given a presentation by BellSouth to explain the
migration of our statewide backbone to ATM technology.  This holds
significant promise for expansion of this state resource.

I encourage you...and invite you...to be a part of this meeting.  We will
be using the Mississippi Interactive Video Network (MIVN) for this
broadcast.  My original intent was to connect the CET meeting location
with the electronic conference room in the IED Building specifically for
my graduate students in Instructional Technology.  However, as I thought
about this more, I realized that key decision-makers at MSU need to know
what is happening...and what better way to inform them than to use the
technology at our disposal?

I do not intend for this meeting to be an interactive forum, as the CET
has numerous items on our agenda.  My intent is to use this occasion for
information only.  If, however, other members of the CET encourage me to
do so, we will open the network up for questions/responses upon the
conclusion of the presentation by Mr. Dennis Brackin from BellSouth.  Mr.
Brackin is coming to the CET at the invitation of Mr. David Litchliter,
Executive Director of MS Information Technology Services (the state agency
responsible for coordinating and managing the statewide backbone, among
other responsibilities).
