Thanks tremendously for the practical advice and the well-developed Resource Guide regarding SIP. It was extremely generous of you to give of your time in preparing the Web Page for the new SIPers like me. I am in the process of creating a Home Page for this class and for Telecommunications. I welcome any additional advice, comments, and/or observations from any former SIPer.:)

Hello SIPpers:I am a second year doctoral student and former SIPper. You have just embarked on a journey like none other. Here's some advice:
1. Check your email regularly. Dr. Anderson and other will be sending you loads of information and questions.
2. Use the listserve when you encounter problems. You're all in this together.
3. Make use of the contacts Dr. Anderson gives you.
4. Make use of other professors, graduate assistants, and students for their expertise. Remember that all the aforementioned have various time constraints. Questions e-mailed at the last minute may not get answered by the time you need.
5. Read the books and check out the tapes that Dr. Anderson suggests.
6. However many technology plans Dr. Anderson suggests you read, READ MORE!!! It will only serve to help you.
I have developed a Web page with a few resources that may help. Theses are not links to technology plans but other information that may help you with this and other classes. Since I don't control these links, you want want to download any needed information as quickly as possible. If you find broken links, let me know. I will try to fix them as my schedule allows. Go to "http://www.msstate.edu/~hbb2/siphelp.html"
For free FTP software. Go to the Tucows link.
Select: Win 95/98 (or whatever OS)
Region: US
Georgia (or any site with two checks)
Select: Network Tools
Select: FTP and Archie
Look for: WS-FTP LE (it's freeware)
Select: Download Now (If you have an updated version of Netscape or IE it will automatically download).I'll leave you with this final thought. If you don't know yourself, how can you help others? The answer will become more apparent as this class unfolds.
