tkt8763-01: new plan on-line

Dr. Anderson and SIPpers:

The District Technology Plan for the Mobile County Public Schools in now
on-line with hyper links. This is the largest school system in Alabama
(one of the largest in the southeast) with:
13 high schools (usually 9-12)
3 vocational schools (9-12)
1 magnet school (9-12) - it also contains a regular high school on
campus
17 middle schools (usually 6-8)
50 elementary schools (usually K-5)
1 pre-K
1 environmental center
2 schools of performing arts (K-3 and 4-8)
1 prep school (6-8)
1 Regional School for the Deaf and Blind
2 schools of science and math (K-3 and 4-8)
2 alternative schools
1 special education school (K-12)
( I should be about right on the numbers)

The largest school, serving over 2,000 students, is Murphy High. It's
also the oldest high school in the state. I graduated from there in
(Ahem!) 1986. The system serves 65,000 students. The annual budget is
approx. $415M.

I would strongly suggest you critique this plan or one of a school
system of similar size. Two of the board members I know quite well. I
went to high school with David Thomas and Hazel Fournier has been a
friend of my family for years.

I would appreciate any comments about this plan that you may have. I
will be sending my own critique of the plan to Margaret Blake some time
next month. Some of the hyper links may not be working. Just scroll down
the document. If part of the plan is missing, please comment on that
also.

P.S. It look like they'll need middle school teachers.
