I took a ton of notes this video. Looking back at these notes I realized
that Jim Rohn could have said what he was trying to say in about... 2
minutes or less. What would we miss? Every time we get in front of a
group of learners, whether they are adults or children we have an
opportunity to present our lesson with our own flare or passion. I had
an entire page of notes on the summer season alone. Almost all of this
page was full of analogies - I thought they were all great. Think of the
style or flavor of Jim Rohn's presentation, he spoke for an hour and all
of the tidbits that he added allowed us to easily grasp and remember the
major points of his video.
One of the statements made in the video, "during the summer season", was
that indifference and indecision are also our enemies. We need to get
off of the fence! It is better to be on the wrong side of the fence than
on the fence. When we figure we are on the wrong side, we will move back
over (hopefully). I remember sitting in a methods class of Dr. Lewis
(too long ago to mention years), and he told our class to stay out of
the teacher lounges in that are in the schools. Most of the time the
amount of negative comments and gossip are overbearing. Remember what
Jim Rohn says... indifference is one of OUR enemies. It is so true! Not
even to mention the Great Enemy of procrastination, and what it takes
from us every chance it gets. It sounds like an enemy doesn't it?
I'm sorry, I seem to have rambled on here. I really did enjoy the video,
and also liked the Faulkner quote by Pam. Which reminds me of the three
areas of professional development; physical, spiritual, and mental.
Those of you that watched the Zig Ziglar video, didn't you think these
sounded a little familiar. Think of the other areas that are also
important in our professional and personal growth (don't these go hand
in hand? I would like to think so). Just a few things to think about.
I'll see you all in class. Wade Shipman
