tkt8763-01: Bob Hughes Conversation

Mr. Hughes made some interesting observations. For example:

He said that schools are doing exacting what they were meant to do, and
are getting better at it. Maybe this should go into the local paper
somewhere! Think about this, do you think that teachers are doing more or
less in today's schools than 20 or 30 years ago?

The problems with our school: 1) kids come to school today, less prepared,
2) students need to be more prepared today for employment, than when
their parents were in school, and 3) school boards.

He commented on how technology is "moving" jobs out of America. Basically,
improved technology creates better and more efficient ways to do our jobs.
Late in his conversation he added that some visionaries believe that we
may experience another Civil War, because of the void between the rich and
poor. Sounds very much like an Arnold Schwartzenegger(sp) sci-fi movie.

Also... the value of a technology plan, is not the plan, but the process.
Many people, people "bigger" that the school board ought to be involved in
the process. These people need to have a passion for their ideas.

What about the impact of technology, and how it empowers us (hopefully) to
be cognitive magnifiers. Being able to cognitively do the work that
several people once did. Impressive!
