Dr. Anderson,

The conference with Mr. Hughes was outstanding.  He gave us so much information and facts about technology and education.  He pointed out that:

1.  Students are coming to school less prepared than ever before.
2.  That, in order for them to get jobs today, they will have to be even more prepared than their
     parents.

Some of his quotes that I like and agree with are:

"Talking to some teachers about technology is like talking to fish about fire"

"Everything from the neck down is minimum wage"

"Think globally and act locally"

He pointed out that he feels that it is the direct responsibility of the public school district to maintain the middle class, because the rapid change in technology and how we approach it could push the gap
even wider between the "haves" and "have-nots".

I extremely liked the idea of a program to have teacher staff development in phases and as an incentive to get to a certain level of proficiency, give them a laptop computer.  I think this would
be an incentive for many teachers.

Also the last point that he made that I wholeheartedly agree with is that you must have the right people leading the school district to accomplish some of these important technology goals.

Again, I really enjoyed him and feel he should speak to as many school districts across the country as possible.
