The video on the Calgary Board of Education was very interesting. It was
from the school board in Calgary, Alberta. The planning process was by
Cindy Lee Martin and James A. Langley. They listed 6 steps to technology
planning. 1)Understanding the external forces relevant to education
2)accomplish the school's capacity for change 3)develop the vision 4)Set
goals and action plan 5)implement the action plan 6)review the process of
the technology plan. Their goals are to make sure that every school has
this. To me I think these 6 goals incoporate all the needs for a good
technology plan to be developed. The most important being the mission and
vision, and then determining what technologies will be needed to
accomplish these. These goals aren't any different from what I've seen
before on technology plans, however these goals are the basic steps needed
for any technology plan to succeed. It's a great start, and I believe
with the insight of other teachers and perhaps students will provide the
answers needed to make their technology plan even better.
