Can we say distance education???? How neat it was again to take part in
some of your class activities by watching the Calgary video from my office
computer! It was quite interesting to hear of the technology planning
strategy that the Calgary Board utilized.
A quick outline of the notes I took:
Steps in Planning
1) Understanding the external force on education: viewing plans already
established and researching current developments in technology
2) Assessing the schools capacity for change - surveying all schools to
determine current state of technology... conducting an internal scan
3) Developing vision and goals
4) Developing direction for planning: meaningful opportunities for all
involved, a developed technology plan for every school, and ensuring staff
access to technologies
5) Implementing action plans
6) Reviewing process- assessment of plan
I found this plan to be quite thorough. I especially like the fact that
the plan was not linear... changes and revisions took place throughout the
entire planning process. Neat video!
