I listened to the Bob Hughes audio and was truly impressed. His point on
how education has jumped to a higher level is so true. To get a job now
days you must be more prepared than you did in years past. I wanted to
shout Amen! when he said students should not be passed until they have
met their level of proficiency. This is a problem I have with my
students (8th grade). They have been let pass because they went to summer
school. Excuse me, but if you can't get it in 9 months what makes you
think they can get it in a few weeks. This has happeded for the past
few years and they ar getting futher and futher behind. Also, I do
believe kids are coming to school less prepared. I have a child starting
Kindergarten this fall and I hope he will be more prepared than I was when
I started to school. He knows more about the computer now than I did when
I graduated college.
A wonderful audio. I wish I could have been present.
