Listening to the Bob Hughes audio call gave me hope for the future. I am
very surprised that someone from the business world has such concern
for public education. I am a teacher that sees so much of the excess
baggage he talked about. Children come to school these days without any
outside educational experiences or preparation. It is very sad that so many
parents are so busy or just simply don't care enough to help prepare their
child for the future. Parents expect a teacher
to teach their child everything from ABC's and 123's to morals and values.
Children need to be on grade level to perform to standard. Many
times they are passed on and they are not able to perform. WE as educators
need to make sure that children learn what they need to know. If they
can't do the work they stay in that same grade another full year. No
exceptions!
Mr. Hughes made many good points. I completely enjoyed his call.
His motivation rubbed off on me. I believe now that maybe their is someone
out there who understands the problems of education, but wants to help not
condemn.
