Fellow SIPers,
Q: What would be a main "tell-tale" sign that a technology planning
document is bound for success....or is bound for failure? Is there
something you can see, almost as soon as you look at the physical planning
document that you would consider as a "dead giveaway"?
First and foremost, I believe that as soon as you look at the physical
planning document, a dead giveaway to that plan being a failure would be the
length of the plan. A technology plan that is only a page or two in length,
at most, is probably not going to be a very successful plan. A successful
plan takes "planning", bugets, and cooperation from others and it would be
hard to incorporate all of this into a one page document.
Second, a successful technology plan should include a budget, and not just a
budget for the first year (I know about this), but a projected budget for
the years to come. Also, a successful plan should incorporate the community,
teacher, faculty, and staff. One person can not fulfill a successful
technology plan.
