Personally,
I like the idea of donating computers to economically disadvantage schools.
But, I also see a potential problem. These schools should have or would
need to have a technical support person. The ideal would be to take the
donated computers, clear the hard drive and re-configure the systems so that
all of the computers in the school system would be compatible, but of
course, this would take an hand technician.
As a teacher, having a computer to help figure grades or type a worksheet on
would be extremely helpful and whether or not that computer is donated or
new would probably not matter.
However, if your school district is attempting to network and go on-line
then what type of computer and where that computer came from would probably
matter.
