Re: tkt8763-01: TP: Winning/Losing

I apologize that my initial response to this was sent to Dr. Anderson only.

I believe that a winning technology plan indicates how the new technology is expected to be used to enhance student curriculum, enhance productivity/workflow for administrators and staff, and aid teachers in their class presentations and student evaluations.

In other words, if the plan does not indicate the needs and uses for the new technology, it will be hard to justify the need for initial funding and any continued funding.

One other item that I believe to be very important in the winning/losing of technology planning, is that you must have the buy-in of those who hold the purse strings. Make sure that those who have to push the plan through the budget process and ensure that funding is made available are very knowledgeable on every aspect of the plan. They need to know and support the plan well enough to SALE IT! However, I am not sure how this could be immediately indicated by "...something you can see, almost as soon as you look at the physical planning document that you would consider as a "dead giveaway"

As we examine a wide variety of technology plans from all over the world,
I would like to ask you to consider something very carefully.

Q: What would be a main "tell-tale" sign that a technology planning
document is bound for success....or is bound for failure? Is there
something you can see, almost as soon as you look at the physical planning
document that you would consider as a "dead giveaway"?

Now, don't be bashful. The only people I expect to respond to this are
the ones who want to pass this semester! 8-) <-that's a smile with
                                                  glasses!
