I continue to remind you to check the TAEL web page on a daily basis, just
in case there's some new material there for you.

On Tuesday, July 18, the monthly meeting of the MS Council for Education
Technology occurs in Jackson, MS at 10 am. Usually, it lasts until
approximately 12 noon. I want you to begin now making your plans to
arrange transportation on that Tuesday to drive to Jackson for this very,
very important meeting among some of the most influential leaders in our
State, specifically as it relates to educational technology.
The meeting will be held in the 5th floor Conference Room of the Tower
Building in the ETV Complex (also known as the Research & Development
Center) on Ridgewood Road, approximately 1/2 block north of Lakeland
Drive, on the west side of Ridgewood Road, up in the beautiful trees.
The Tower Building is the tall 9-story building. If you have trouble
finding it, just look for the ETV microwave tower. It stands tall above
the trees.
Parking is available in the front of the building; however, it is rather
limited. You might park on the South side of the building in order to hae
a better chance of finding a place.
Just come on inside the main building, go to the elevators, and proceed to
the 5th floor. When you get off the elevators, turn East and you'll find
the Conference Room. Feel free to ask for directions if you need to. The
Conference Room is sometimes called the "Community and Junior College
Board Room."
Notice that I am sending this to the SIP list, as well. I want as many of
you SIPpers to be there as possible. Remember: SIP this summer is a
three-week course and we meet face-to-face only one week. However, I
think this is a perfectly reasonable assignment to give you, especially if
you are enrolled this summer.
Preliminary to your attending this meeting, I would expect you to go back
and read Senate Bill 3350 (you can find this on the Seminar in Planning
web page at http://www.msstate.edu/dept/teched/sip) so you will understand
the significance of the Council. I want you to prepare a position paper,
as well, entitled, "The Council for Education Technology: Its Role and
Importance in Mississippi."
I shall be giving additional details on Monday, July 17, as we begin out
TAEL class together.
If there is a severe, profound shortage of transportation, I may be able
to rent a van and do some cost-sharing among the riders. We'll talk about
it.
