tkt8763-01: Thursday Agenda Items

Here are some notes to keep us going today:

1. Remember, we'll use some of our time this morning as a "work session"
so we all can "whip into shape" our interactive web-based tools...and
other things that may still remain undone for the week.
As I advised you yesterday afternoon, I expect the work performed on
Assignment 9 to be of the very highest, utmost sterling quality work
possible! I high *extremely* high expectations for your work on this
product.
In the event that some of you really do want to make your evaluation
tool, created as a part of another assignment, your submission for
assignment 9, then I will suggest, and expect, that you coordinate with
each other so that what you create has components of:
    a. a general evaluation instrument -- one that allows the user to
obtain some kind of assessment of their technology plan, in general, along
with an assessment of their planning *process*; and
    b. a *specific* evaluation tool, targeted some particular aspect of
the planning landscape (ex: evaluation of security; evaluation of
incentives and/or reward system; evaluation of community involvement;
evaluation of professional development program (not a specific Pro-D
session, though); evaluation of the evaluation scheme)
It is in this second area where I will expect you to work with each
other so that we have a broad spectrum of possibilities from which to
choose.

2. As we have met, face-to-face, we have held some directed discussions on
topics that the online students have missed. So, I would hope that some
of you would take the responsibility of typing a few words and submitting
them to the class list, for the benefit of the online learners.
Also, here's a request to the former SIPpers, the eagle alumni, to take
just a few moments and try to give your "best advice" or your "key points"
from what you remember about SIP....about the planning process...about any
particular aspect of technology planning....about strategies for
streamlining a tech leader's activities. Anything that you think would
help current students. I really appreciate your supremely high value to
what we are doing right now. Maybe we just want to generate some good
questions upon which current students can ponder. Anything! You're the
seasoned experts in this SIP experience, after all.

3. A Special Note to Online Students:
I will expect you to be especially active this week, while our
on-campus class is meeting. Several of you have, indeed, participated in
discussion on the mailing list. Others haven't. Believe me, I am taking
notice....and your actions (quantity and quality) are impacting your
academic success in this venture. I value so highly the contributions you
can make, so come on....if you feel the least bit uneasy about how to
complete an assignment, send a note to the class...if you have found an
excellent resource, tell us...if you feel especially successful or
especially frustrated about something, speak up.
Will this generate a great deal more email to read? Yes. However,
that's okay. I respect your professional participation and that just
comes with the territory.

I am still at home, working this morning. I'll be out there by 9 AM, but
I want to give you some "space" so you can soar like the eagle you are
practicing to become! I can hardly wait to see you today; you all have
success in your eyes and I can sense the vibrance of your energetic
momentum.

I love y'all! Thanks for what you mean to me!
