Hi, I have been looking over our lists and have these suggestions.
I would like everyone to consider these.
Add two new comments and put it in at #2 and #3 this would move the
current #2 down and all following.
#2 Every classroom in the school has one or more computers.
#3 The school is wired and access to the internet is in every
classroom.
The following numbers correspond to the old numbers.
#12 leave out the word "be" It is a typo.
Switch 12 and 13 for progression
#14 reword Technology is infused across curricular areas to meet
curriculum integration goals. (comment: we may want to leave off
"curriculum" or think of another way to word this.
#20 there is a comma after "technology" that I think needs to be
omitted.
#21 Add a "such as" statement like Communication between all
stakeholders has been enhanced by the implementation of technology such
as email, electronic bulletin boards, listservs, and word processed
letters/memos.
The next three deal with professional development but we did not
specify technology based professional development I suggest we specify.
#22 A variety of technology based professional development
opportunities are offered.
#23 Incentives are provided for participation in technology based
professional development.
#24 Faculty and staff are consulted about the types technology based
professional development offered.
And last on this list:
Add one more:
The school environment is such that technology touches the learning
cycle (comment: think of another word) of every student everyday.
Now for the "Other Questions"
#3 The list we are going to develop could look like this and be general
in nature.
The areas I feel are necessary for staff development are:
Basic computer skills (file management, word processing, grade book,
email)
Intermediate computer skills (file formats, spreadsheets, web page
making)
Advanced computer skills (use of peripherals, specific software
packages)
Internet skill (searches, downloading, site evaluation)
Other:
#10 I just don't think this one fits our general format as it is. If
the respondent responds "always" on this one it is bad but on the other
items it is good. We could reword if you want to keep it to something
like: "To the best of my knowledge all funding was used to enhance the
technological environment of the school district."
What do you think about putting in the introduction that the respondent
should answer the questions to the best of their knowledge about the
school as a whole and not just in their classroom? I have an idea about
the environment of my school over all and even if I don't --I know what
goes on on my hall because I talk to these teachers in-between classes
while we are in the hall. I also talk shop at the lunch table.
Does anyone have a start on the introduction?
Hope this makes sense to all of you if not let me know and I will try
to explain better.
