tkt8763-01: comments on checklist

I emailed our checklist to a couple of "experts" that I know for review
and comment. I have compiled the list of their suggestions/concerns
below:

What age group of students are we talking about? Too young and they
won't understand some of the questions that they are expected to answer.
(We might want to consider this Wed. and make a revised list for lower
grades??????)

The question about software distribution being in accordance with
software regulations.....it has P, S, T, TP, A.....the parents, students
and sometimes even the teachers or administrators may not have a clue as
to whether or not this is true. In truth, most teachers use the
software that is on their computers and haven't any idea as to where it
came from or if it is licensed. Administrators might not even have any
idea of what software is being used in their building.... (I agree
here.)

Should the teachers be involved in the question about customer service
representatives being cooperative? Sometimes teachers do call the
software companies to check on their software....

The instrument looks really good to me. The only item that I
questioned was on page six number 13. I really didn't think that number
13 had a practical application with regard to student input and to a
degree teacher input as well with regard to the issue of distribution.
I wouldn't expect a student to have knowledge of software distribution.
I see the student as more of an "end" user and many cases the teacher as
well, although I know there are exceptions. (Same as above)

I looked at the survey and it looks good but.... I did notice that you
did not have anything about assistive devices listed. With the
technology being so widespread in the schools, it is something that is
brought to our attention (MDE) quite often. I had not thought about it
but, a left handed preschool students needs his mouse to be for a
left-handed person. Those that are visually impaired need special
devices. I guess my comment is that we are being forced to look at that
(which we should) and it might be something that could be added to
raise the awareness.

My other comment would be to look at our teacher and administrator
standards for technology and see if they are each addressed in the
survey (I will try to get a copy of these for you to look at Wed.)
