    The Center for Distance Education at Mississippi State invites interested faculty and staff to its March Lunch & Learn presentation: "Why Your Distance Education Website Matters." The session takes place March 9 in Memorial Hall's Coskrey Auditorium. Lunch will be served at 11:45 a.m., and the program starts at noon.

  • Finalists named, campus forums set for MWRRI director
    Mississippi State University will host three finalists for director of the Mississippi Water Resources Research Institute over the next several weeks. During their visits, each candidate will deliver a public presentation where they will share their vision for the institute, as well as discuss their leadership style, professional background and priorities, among other topics. Interested members of the campus community are invited to attend these sessions.

  • Mississippi Economic Council names MSU alum Scott Waller interim CEO
    Scott Waller has been named interim president and chief executive officer of the Mississippi Economic Council effective May 1, in preparation for the planned retirement of 19-year CEO Blake Wilson on June 16, after a 47-year career, 37 in association work. A native of Shubuta and a graduate of Mississippi State University, Waller is in his 11th year on staff at MEC, serving most recently as executive vice president & COO, focusing specifically on driving MEC’s legislative agenda, targeting communications and generating grassroots outreach on behalf of the MEC membership.

  • Food resources available for campus community members in need
    The MSU Food Security Network has partnered with the Student Association's Block by Block Meal Program to connect members of the Mississippi State community who lack food to available food resources on campus and in the community. The MSU Food Security Network connects students, faculty and staff to a local food pantry, and Block by Block provides block meals specifically for students in need.

  • Information Technology Services planning major Banner upgrade
    Beginning in April, Information Technology Services at Mississippi State will begin the process of upgrading Banner 8 to Banner 9, also referred to as Banner XE. This is a major upgrade that will take over a year to complete. Campus users are asked to visit www.its.msstate.edu/services/accounts/admin-banner/banner9 for details about the upgrade, including a timeline, a video, FAQs, and other important information. Additional information will be made available as the upgrade progresses.

Departmental personnel with access to key payroll time in Banner also have access to this website to review and update departmental directory information.

  • History department hosting Civil War symposium Friday, Saturday at MSU
    The Department of History at Mississippi State will host a "New Approaches to Civilian Military Relations in the American Civil War" symposium on Friday [Feb. 24] and Saturday [Feb. 25] in the Swalm Suite, which is located on the fourth floor of the Dave C. Swalm Chemical Engineering Building. The presentations are free and open to the public.

  • Nominations sought for 2017 Irvin Atly Jefcoat Excellence in Advising Awards
    The Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President at Mississippi State is now taking nominations for the 2017 Irvin Atly Jefcoat Excellence in Advising Awards. The Jefcoat awards honor both a full-time MSU faculty adviser and a full-time staff adviser for contributions to student advising. The deadline to submit nominations is March 31.

  • Community-engaged learning mini-grants available to MSU faculty, Extension personnel
    Applications for community-engaged learning projects in the 2017-2018 academic year are now available at www.servicelearning.msstate.edu/faculty/mini-grant. Any full-time Mississippi State faculty member or MSU Extension personnel is eligible to apply. Applications are due by March 31, 2017. Awards will be announced in May 2017.

  • Mortar Board nominations now open
    Mississippi State University faculty are encouraged to nominate outstanding students who are completing their junior year to the Mortar Board National College Honor Society. Students selected for membership must be in the top 35 percent of their junior class and demonstrate a commitment to scholarship, leadership and service. Criteria for application to the MSU Mortar Board Chapter include a minimum GPA of 3.30, junior class standing and potential for leadership and service to MSU and the community.
