Miss Maroon and White 2017 to be named during Friday program

STARKVILLE, Miss.—Thirty-three young women will compete for the title of Miss Maroon and White 2017 at Mississippi State University on Friday [Feb. 17]. 

The winner will be selected alongside four Maroon and White Beauties at a public program in historic Lee Hall’s Bettersworth Auditorium. The program will begin at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $15 for the general public and $10 for MSU students with an ID. Tickets are available now through the Center for Student Activities in the Colvard Student Union, Suite 314 or online at events.msstate.edu.

In addition to Mississippi, this year’s contestants represent Alabama, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Texas. They include (by hometown):

ALLISON PARK, Pennsylvania—Freshman Julia Concolino, an international business major and the daughter of Thomas and Renee Concolino.

CALEDONIA—Junior Clara Bailey Wallace, a microbiology/pre-medicine major and the daughter of Steve and the late Teena Wallace.

CARTHAGE—Sara Taylor Mathis, a psychology major and the daughter of Jay and Andrea Mathis; and Sydney Ogletree, an elementary education major and the daughter of Brad and Mikki Ogletree. Both are freshmen.

CLINTON—Senior AudreyAnne Estess, an interdisciplinary sciences/pre-veterinary major and the daughter of Debbie and the late Dr. Robert Estess.

COLUMBUS—Junior Mallory Byrd, a communication major and the daughter of Danny and Verlencer Byrd.

CULLMAN, Alabama—Senior Madison Eschan, a fashion design and merchandising major and the daughter of Kenny and Kimberly Bartram and Jon Eschan.

CUMMING, Georgia—Freshman Grace Johnston, a communication/public relations major and the daughter of Steve and Lisa Johnston.

DACULA, Georgia—Junior Victoria Kokinos, a broadcast meteorology major and the daughter of Michael and Sharon Kokinos.

ELLISVILLE—Senior Lydia Nunes, a microbiology major and the daughter of Mike and Pam Nunes.

FLORA—Senior Shelby Allard, a psychology major and the daughter of Ray and Cindy Allard.

GREENFIELD, Tennessee—Junior Abby Huffstetler, an elementary education major and the daughter of Randy and Sherri Huffstetler.

HATTIESBURG—Freshman Tatum Nace, a fashion design and merchandising major and the daughter of Todd and Tonya Nace.

JACKSON—Junior Phyliceia Brown, a communication/public relations major and the daughter of Glenn and Phyllis Brown.

LAKELAND, Tennessee—Sophomore Andrea Crawford is a nutrition major and the daughter of Tony and Dorinda Crawford.

LAUREL—Senior Farrar Smith, a child life major and the daughter of Chucky and Donna Smith.
