The Mississippi State University BIG EVENT presented by Renasant Bank is a one-day service opportunity for members of Starkville and MSU to roll up their sleeves and give back. On April 1, the Student Association and Maroon Volunteer Center will gather Starkville and MSU volunteers to leave their mark on the local community through volunteer service. Last year of 900 students, faculty, and staff participated in the Big Event.
Volunteers will head out beginning at 8 a.m. to perform volunteer work at one of 60 service sites. Service sites for this year include the Salvation Army, HEART After-School Tutoring, Camp Seminole, the Noxubee Refuge, St. Joseph Food Pantry, Sally Kate Winters Family Services, Palmer Home for Children, Emerson Family School, Christian World Missions, Starkville Cemetery Association, International Fiesta, and Habitat for Humanity.
Volunteer shifts are 8-10 a.m. or 10 a.m.-noon. Volunteer check-in, site assignment, and t-shirt pick-up will be available on March 31 from 5:15-7:00 p.m. at the MSU Amphitheater. Each volunteer receives a free t-shirt and lunch for participating.
