National Engineers Week at Mississippi State

Engineers Make A World of Difference

This ESC activity is a combined effort with other engineering colleges and organizations across the country to promote the field of engineering as a career choice. At Mississippi State, the ESC provides a week full of activities for engineering students. Students do community service and visit local high school seniors during the week. The ESC hosts educational speakers and such events as the Elympics, cookout, scavenger hunt, and duct tape competition during E-week.

As part of EWeek, each engineering department competes for the coveted title of "Best Major on Campus". Points are awarded for participation in the week's community service activities, educaitonal speaker meetings, and other fun competitions. In 2003, there was a tie between the Chemical Engineers and the Electrical & Computer Engineers for the "Best Major on Campus" title. In 2004 Aerospace Engineers split the prize with the Chemical Engineers. Last year Aerospace claimed sole possession of Best Major on Campus 2005. This year the ESC again ensured there was not be a tie by implementing a tie breaker event should the games warrant it. Aerospace again showed tremendous effort and support from their entire student body to again claim the title of Best Major on Campus.
