Becoming a member

New members are admitted into ESC every spring and fall semester. You must be an undergraduate student in the College of Engineering to join. The process of becoming a member is as follows.

  1. Fill out an application and return it to the council by the application deadline. [ DOC | PDF ]
  2. An ESC member will get in contact with you and set up a time for an interview.
  3. After all candidates are interviewed, the new members are selected. Membership numbers are limited by classification, so you may not be able to join the council if there are too many current members with your classification. Generally, there are more spots open to lower classifications as people tend to stick around as seniors.
  4. You will be contacted by the New Member Liaison if you are accepted and informed of your first meeting's time and date.

If you wish to apply to the ESC, please fill out our online application.

Membership Duties

Members are expected to attend at least 70% of all ESC meetings. Meetings are held bi-weekly on Thursday nights regularly throughout the spring and fall semester. In addition to attendance, you are expected to participate in one committee.

Committees

ESC performs most of its tasks through the work of several committees. Committees include:

  • Events (Homecoming Float, E-Week, etc...)
  • Fundraising
  • Publicity
  • Social

Each committee is headed up by a committee head elected each year.
