Jazz Band Festival 2008

The Mississippi State University Jazz Ensembles are pleased to announce the return of the MSU Jazz Festival. You are invited to bring your jazz band to MSU on Friday, April 25, to enjoy a day of music making in a helpful, educational atmosphere. The opportunity to hear other bands, coupled with the constructive comments of our clinicians, can be a motivating and stimulating experience for your group.

Festival Specifics:

Each band should perform three tunes in contrasting styles.
Outstanding soloists and sections will be recognized.
All concerts and clinic sessions are open. You are encouraged to stay for the entire festival.
This is not a competition. While each bands performance will be evaluated, there are no classifications and no ratings will be assigned. All groups will receive comment sheets and tapes.
Each band will receive a short clinic from one of the adjudicators.
No sight reading.

We hope that you and your jazz students will consider joining us on April 25.

The festival will be limited to eight bands, so please return the entry form early.
