Q: What are the regulations regarding bike use in the Starkville area?
Bicycles are allowed on roads on campus since they are considered vehicles. They are required to obey the same traffic laws as cars. Additionally, they are required to have a headlight and a tail light/reflector if riding after dark.

Officially, bicycles are not allowed on sidewalks on MSU campus. This is described in the traffic policies for campus. Unofficially, it seems that as long as you are not moving faster than the pedestrians on the sidewalks or creating a hazard, the police will leave you alone.

Racks are usually the best options for parking a bike while you are in class, etc. If you find a building that doesn't have a rack, PLEASE LET US KNOW! Bicycles are allowed to be stored inside dorm rooms. Unfortunately, bicycles are generally not allowed in other buildings on campus.

We encourage all riders to obey traffic policies and laws.

Q: Are helmets required?
We are not aware of any helmet policies for MSU or Starkville. There is no bicycle helmet law in Miss. (but there is one for motorcycles). That said, Bulldawg Cycling encourages its members to always wear a helmet and we require them on our club rides.

Q: Is there a local bike shop?

Q: Where do I ride?
Before you think, "Wow, look! They're padding their FAQ because this answer is in the menu bar (top left).", you should know that this question has been asked and asked. Really. For those of you who still haven't caught on - we've got several pages dedicated to riding. Look in our menu on the left for "Club Rides", "Where to Ride?", etc.

Q: Are Mississippi State Jerseys available?
We are in the process of making club jerseys, but we ran into licensing issues with MSU. It looks like the first printing will have our club logo on the front and back. Later, if we can get approval from the university, we will put the MState logo on the back of the jersey. Unfortunately, the current design does not have the word 'Mississippi' on it, but it does have 'Bulldawg Cycling Club' and several paw prints on it. We do not know of any other Miss State jerseys.

Q: What is the "club logo" you speak of?
It's our best kept secret. Maybe one day our lazy webmaster will put it up here. :)

Q: How do I unsubscribe from the mailing list?
Why would you want to do that?!?! We do realize the list can get pretty active sometimes, and if you're no longer in Starkville or no longer ride (did you loose a leg?) that you might want to unsubscribe. Directions to "unsubscribe" are listed at the bottom of every email distributed by the list.
