Delta
Gamma Foundation offers all members lifetime enrichment through
educational growth, personal development, and opportunities for
philanthropic service in the highest of social responsibility.
Delta Lambda Chapter at Mississippi State University has had many
of these opportunities to show not only locally, but also nationally,
the idea for service that Delta Gamma's hold so high. In May 2004,
we gave the Delta Gamma Foundation this years largest gift from
any collegiate chapter in the amount of $27,664. This money was
raised from Anchor Week, the members selling Jubilation Cheesecakes,
magazine subscriptions, and Milk & Cookies. They are excited that
half of those funds will be returned to the Mississippi State
University Foundation to help support the Delta Gamma Dorothy
Garrett Martin Lectureship in Values and Ethics.
Delta Lambda's volunteer throughout
the semester doing work for Service for Sight. They go to the
Lutheran Church weekly and comprise braille hymnals. They record
books on tape for the children at the Mississippi School for the
Blind. In the fall of 2003 they helped with eye testing at Starkville
Academy and in the spring of 2004, they donated over 200 pairs
of used or new eyeglasses to the local Lion's Club. They purchased
a needy child a pair of eyeglasses. Delta Lambda's make Foundation
their priority and it shows by all they accomplish in the academic
year.
