MSU Drumline Music
-
We get a lot of requests for the music that we play. So I have decided to create a single page that will
tell you where you can get the music played by the MSU drumline. Everything written by Dr. Baker
or other members of the drumline can be downloaded from this page for FREE. Dr. Baker has kindly
agreed to let his music be posted without any restrictions. All we ask is that you give the proper people credit
for creating the piece and do not claim it as your own.
We play a lot of cadences and exercises found in DCI.
Cadences, exercises, and anything else that is protected under copyright law WILL NOT
be posted on this website. DO NOT ask us to send you the music because we cannot. I will
post a link to the correct site where you may go and purchase the music from the respective creator (if available). Every
DCI piece we play, we pay for.
If I have left anything out please do not hesitate to
send a message and let me know.
You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the music files.

- BIG WET BOX - Bunco Rules
as performed by The
Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corp
A few words about Big Wet Box - Bunco Rules. We have been contacted by
Christopher Hall, a former member of the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corp.
He has shed some light on the copyright and the history of this piece.
The original creators of this cadence named it Big Wet Box...not Bunco Rules.
It was first played by the Cavies for their 1994 homecoming parade in Rosemont IL.
The creators have kindly gave us permission to keep our parts on the website for the public
to see. Christopher also provided me with an original copy of the snare part (posted below), and
some comments on the piece.
In the snare part around measure 18 or 19 where they play the triplet righthand flams, the left should be back sticked before going into the ping sixteenths. Also, the 5/4 measure of roll should turn into a triplet based roll on count 3 where the right hand curls between the tip and the butt of the stick. ... We call this the claw... (Of course originally this was performed with metallic lightning rods which makes more sense because of all of the front rim work. - It should actually be on the rim)
A few words about Cadets Street Time. Nowhere could we find a place to purchase this piece of
music. Nor could we find any copyright information on it. Therefore I'm going to post the
parts that we played. There are a few Cadets Cadences that can be found
here, but we could not find this one anywhere.
If anyone knows where this
piece can be purchased please let me know so we can change our links and purchase a copy.
