About Food System Functionality

We are an organization that favors intellectual and applied pursuit in the area of food system functionality. We are particularly interested in physicochemical and nutraceutical (bioactive foods) functionalities, as well as, safety and ethnic considerations that impact food consumption.  Our pursuit is to promote better understanding of functionalities that influence quality and acceptability of value-added foods. Variables that impact parameters like flavor, appearance, texture, bioactivity, preservative properties, and cost are relevant. We are interested in using basic principles of physics , chemistry, nutrition, microbiology , chemistry, nutrition, microbiology and engineering to solve pragmatic problems that the food industry and academia are faced with today.

We sponsor international conferences and specific on-site workshops.  In our effort to standardize key functional attributes that impact the functionality of food ingredients, we also certify key functionalities using easy to understand scales.
