Mississippi State Graduate Student Research Symposium

Call for Abstracts

The 4th Annual GSA Research Symposium will be held in March 31st 2006, in the Student Union Ballroom. The symposium will consist of a poster session and an oral session.  

A monetary award will be given to the best oral and poster presentation in each category. 

Rules for Research Symposium:

·        Please keep abstracts to 3000 characters or less.

·        Abstracts will be accepted from any discipline.

·        Abstracts that have been submitted or presented at other scientific meetings will be accepted, as long as the abstracts were not presented at previous MSU Graduate Student Symposiums.

·        Graduate students may submit more than one abstract; however, only one may be judged eligible for a monetary award.  Students should indicate the abstract submitted for competition.

·        Oral sessions will be limited to approximately 10 minutes with an additional 3 minutes for questions.

 

POSTER PRESENTATIONS

 

·        Time of Judging for Poster Presentations is 8 am-12pm

·        Presenter does not need to be present for judging of poster, however, you are encouraged to be       present for some time during the competition

·        Poster Setup will be in the third floor of the Union

·        Limited Easels and Boards will be available

·        Posters should be no larger then 36 inches by 60 inches

·        Posters are to be picked up from the Union no later than 4:00 pm on March 31st

·        The posters will be divided into 3 divisions: Life Sciences, Social Sciences, and Physical Sciences.  Please place your poster on the easel labeled in your division (easels will be labeled with Life, Physical, or Social Sciences)

 

Please help support the Graduate Student Research Symposium by submitting an abstract.  This will be an excellent opportunity to present data in a professional setting, especially if you are not able to participate in scientific/professional meetings.  Abstract books will be available at the symposium.
