MMSC is sponsored by the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, the Stennis Institute of Government, the University Honors Program, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Starkville community.

The UN Security Council is charged with the responsibility of maintaining international peace and security.  It is the forum for debate and the resolution of international conflicts, and it is the only UN body that has the power to create and deploy international peacekeeping forces into areas of conflict.  The Security Council can also call on members to apply economic sanctions to stop or prevent aggression.
