Reporting a rare bird in Mississippi

The MOS maintains an archive that includes information about all rare birds occurring in the state, plus information about the seasonal distribution of more common species. The ensure the quality of the database, the MOS Records Committee was established to solicit and evaluate information about all rare and out-of-season birds reported in Mississippi. The committee requests that detailed descriptions, field notes, photographs, recordings, or specimens be submitted to verify such reports. Click here to download a documentation form. The committee meets annually, votes on records, and publishes an annual report on its activities in The Mississippi Kite. Current members of the Records Committee are Paul Hamel (Chair), Philip J. Barbour, Ned Boyajian, Stephen J. Dinsmore, and Gene C. Knight. All records should be submitted to: Paul Hamel, Center for Bottomland Hardwoods Research, P. O.
